Berkeley Township residents claim they heard gunshots, investigation underway

BERKELEY TWP., N.J. (WPVI) — Four people are dead after a murder-suicide early Tuesday morning in Ocean County, New Jersey.

It happened at a home on Fairwood Avenue in Berkeley Township around 5 a.m.

Authorities say three people were fatally shot before the suspected shooter turned the weapon on himself.

He was pronounced dead at a hospital in Toms River.

“This investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional information will be released at the appropriate time,” Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.

Officials say there is no danger to the public.

Few other details have been released.
