WEST BRADFORD TWP., Pa. (WPVI) — Funeral arrangements have been announced for the Pennsylvania state police corporal who was killed in the line of duty over the weekend.

A viewing for Corporal Timothy O’Connor will be held next Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Church in Downingtown from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

A funeral service will take place the following day, Wednesday, March 18, beginning at 11 a.m. at the same location.

O’Connor was shot and killed Sunday night while responding to a report of an erratic driver in West Caln Township.

Police say he stopped the vehicle at Route 10 and Michael Road, and within seconds of approaching it, the driver-identified as 32-year-old Jesse Elks-opened fire, fatally wounding him.

Authorities say Elks then took his own life.

According to state police, O’Connor was assigned to Troop J, Embreeville Station. He enlisted in September 2010 as part of the 131st cadet class. After graduating, he served at Troop J, Avondale, later joining the Criminal Investigation Unit in 2016. He transferred back to Troop J, Embreeville, in 2022 and was promoted to corporal that July.

O’Connor is the 105th member of the Pennsylvania State Police to die in the line of duty.
