Steven Spielberg Weighs in on Timothée Chalamet’s Controversial Ballet and Opera Comments

Steven Spielberg is yelling “cut” on Timothée Chalamet’s recent comments.

Weeks after the Marty Supreme star said that “no one cares” about ballet and opera, the Jurassic Park director is the latest celeb to address his controversial take.

“For me, the real experience comes when we can influence a community to congregate in a strange, dark space where all of us are strangers,” Steven said of the importance of movie theaters during a SXSW keynote conversation Mar. 13, per Variety. “At the end of a really good movie experience, we are all united with a whole bunch of feelings that we walk into the daylight with, or into the nighttime with. And there’s nothing like that.”

“It happens in movies, and in concerts,” the 79-year-old added. “And it happens in ballet and opera, by the way.”

As the audience applauded his remark, Steven continued, “And we want that to be sustained. We want that to go forever.”

His comments come after Timothée, 30, spoke about various art forms in an interview with Matthew McConaughey in February.
