This is far from the first time that Whoopi has openly discussed her dating preferences. In fact, the Ghost alum—who was previously married to Alvin Martin from 1973 to 1979, David Claessen from 1986 to 1988 and Lyle Trachtenberg from 1994 to 1995—just spoke about her desire to stay single last month.
“Being lonely and being alone are two different things,” she told Jeremy O. Harris in a Feb. 4 conversation for Interview magazine. “I don’t necessarily get lonely because there’s enough people around who don’t let me.”
The EGOT winner—who shares daughter Alex Martin, 51, with Alvin—also candidly discussed her preferences in 2024, admitting that she’s “fundamentally a selfish person” and has no interest in getting remarried.
“Hit-and-runs are great. I don’t mind those,” she told Don Lemon. “But you can’t spend the night.”
Whoopi added, “I want to see you when I see you, and then you go.”
