TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WPVI) — A police incident involving a shooting shut down a section of the westbound Pennsylvania Turnpike on Saturday evening, according to officials in Montgomery and Chester counties.
State police and multiple surrounding agencies responded around 7 p.m. to reports of a shooting on the Turnpike between the Valley Forge interchange (Exit 326) and the Phoenixville/Malvern interchange (Exit 320). One person was taken to a nearby hospital, authorities said. The individual’s condition was not immediately known.
Turnpike officials closed the westbound lanes between the two interchanges as police investigated.
Officials did not immediately release additional details about the circumstances of the shooting or whether any suspects were in custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
