Delta engine fire: Delta flight 104 from Sao Paulo to Atlanta returns to Brazil airport after engine explodes

CHICAGO (WLS) — Scary moments unfolded after a fire erupted from the engine of an Atlanta-bound Delta flight.

This happened on Sunday just seconds after takeoff from the Sao Paulo airport in Brazil.

Officials say a mechanical issue caused the explosion. A piece of the plane was also seen falling to the ground.

The plane immediately returned to the airport.

All passengers and crew were able to get off safely.
