WILMINGTON, Delaware (WPVI) — Local Wilmington residents visited the Christina river as the sun rose this morning.
It was all part of the Easter Sunrise Service held by Grace United Methodist Church, and Riverfront Church.
” We want to be involved in everything that’s going on in the city, not just the place people come to the church…What we’re trying to do is love God and love people. We can do that in many different ways through many different voices, many different experiences,” said Lead Pastor at Grace United Methodist Church in Wilmington, David Ingalls.
Their service was held at Hare Pavillion on the Riverfront in Wilmington.
“When I first got here, this morning at 5 a.m., it was dark, it was cold, it was dreary, and it was hard to really believe that the sun was going to rise and that it was going to be the beautiful day that it has become. And I think that is the truth of this day of Easter, that in the darkest of situations, we believe that light and love will still make a way, that love survives all of that,” said Interim Pastor of Riverfront Church, Reverend Brent Sheffer-O’Neill.
