Timing can make a difference when it comes to saving money, and a new tool from CouponCabin aims to help shoppers decide whether to buy now or hold off for a better deal.
The tool, called the Coupon Clock, analyzes historical savings patterns to show when discounts on certain products tend to be at their best throughout the year.
“The coupon clock is a tool that we created here at Coupon Cabin that is going to help shoppers time their purchases based on real savings patterns,” said Melanie Lowe, CouponCabin’s chief savings expert.
CouponCabin has provided consumers with coupon codes and cash-back rates for more than 20 years, according to the company.
Lowe said the data collected over that time revealed consistent trends in when shoppers are most likely to see savings.
“Throughout those years we’ve noticed a lot important savings trends and we wanted to share that data with shoppers and that’s how the coupon clock was born,” she said.
According to the Coupon Clock, April is a strong month for discounts on heating systems, as well as ski and snowboard gear. CouponCabin says historical savings on those items this month range from 30% to 60%.
Lowe said the tool is designed to be useful across a wide range of purchases.
“So, it’s super helpful for whatever you’re shopping for,” she said, “whether it’s a seasonal purchase or maybe it’s just your everyday skincare, you’ll be able to use the coupon clock to see when it’s the best time to make a purchase, how much you can save.”
The Coupon Clock also shows April as a good time to find deals on home organization products, jewelry and summer travel.
At the same time, it indicates April is typically a poor month to shop for items such as air purifiers, baby monitors, garden tools, lawn furniture and summer clothing.
CouponCabin recommends that shoppers always search for coupon codes before completing a purchase, especially those that offer free shipping.
The company says it employs a team of 150 experts who manually source and test deals seven days a week.
