Former teacher sentenced for attempted sexual assault in Montgomery County

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) — A former Norristown teacher will serve nine to 23 months in prison for attempting to sexually assault a 13-year-old student.

John Richards was sentenced on Monday.

While working at Blockson Middle School, Richards showed an eighth grade student a typed message on his phone. It indicated that he wanted to kiss her twice during an upcoming field trip he was set to chaperone.

Richards pleaded guilty back in September.
