Man in critical condition following 2-alarm house fire in Chester

CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) — Fire officials say a man is in critical condition after being pulled from a burning home in Chester early Wednesday morning.

The 2-alarm blaze broke out just before 3 a.m. on the 200 block of Jeffrey Street.

Crews arrived to find flames coming from the first floor of the home, which quickly spread to the second floor.

Officials say firefighters pulled the victim from the second floor of the home. He was transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

The man was then transferred to Temple University Hospital to be treated for severe burns.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
