“The roles and the characters I get (the) opportunity to play, you try to bring as much of yourself, you know, and effort into them to bring those characters to life,” Jordan told On The Red Carpet at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, where his dual performance as twins “Smoke” and “Stack” earned him the Icon Award.
His “Sinners” co-stars Wunmi Mosaku and Delroy Lindo earned Oscar nominations as well, part of a record 16 total nominations this year for the Ryan Coogler vampire thriller.
“Titanic,” “La La Land” and “All About Eve” were the previous record holders with 14 Oscar nods each.
“Sinners” is also up for Best Costume Design, marking the fifth career nomination for costume designer Ruth E. Carter, who’s now the most-nominated Black woman in Oscar history.

“One Battle After Another” has the second most nominations this year, including Best Picture, which it already won at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, and National Board of Review Awards.
Leonardo DiCaprio earned his sixth career Lead Actor nod and eighth nomination overall.
“It’s an original concept,” DiCaprio told On The Red Carpet about how he’d describe the film. “It’s (director Paul Thomas Anderson), you know, to me, he’s harkening back to the revolutionaries of the late ’60s in a modern context. But in the end of the day, it’s about a father trying to get back to his daughter and reconnect.”
