MANHEIM TWP., Pa. (WPVI) — The National Transportation Safety Board is blaming a plane crash in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, on pilot distraction and the plane being over the weight limit.
New video was released in the report showing the small plane burst into flames in a parking lot in a Manheim Township retirement community last March.
5 injured but ‘everybody survives’ after small plane crashes in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
Five people on the plane were injured when the aircraft went down.
The NTSB concluded the preliminary cause is the pilot’s failure to maintain “adequate airspeed after takeoff” because the cabin door had suddenly opened.
The plane was also packed about 500 pounds above the maximum gross takeoff weight.
