Philadelphia Council recognizes Temple student who assisted in news coverage of anti-ICE protest.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia City Council recognized the Temple University student charged along with journalist Don Lemon after assisting in news coverage of an anti-ICE protest in Minnesota.

Council members presented Jerome Richardson with a recognition during Thursday’s meeting.

Richardson thanked council members and encouraged people to vote in the upcoming midterm elections.

Richardson was arrested on January 18 at Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.

He had been there helping coordinate logistics for the former CNN anchor, who now works independently.

The Justice Department said the demonstration interfered with constitutional rights to worship.
