PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — It’s been ten years since a man was gunned down in broad daylight in the city’s Germantown section.
Now, police are seeking the public’s help in finding who was responsible.
“This is in middle of the day in the afternoon, somebody had to see something,” says Santo Montecalvo, Vice President of the Citizens Crime Commission.
28-year-old James Walke III was gunned down just after 2 p.m. in broad daylight on Tuesday February 23rd, 2016.
It happened along the unit block of West Seymour Street in the city’s Germantown section.
His mother tells Action News that her son was minding his own business when the gunman suddenly appeared.
“He was walking down the street with his earphones in his ears, listening to his music like he does every day,” says Walke’s mother, Yullo Robbins.
The suspect was captured on surveillance video, both before and after the shooting.
Walke’s mother says a neighbor heard him beg for his life as the gunman stood over him and shot him several times.
He died less than a half hour later at the hospital.
“If anybody has information, the City of Philadelphia is offering up to $20,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest,” says Montecalvo.
The number to call is 215-546-TIPS.
All calls will remain anonymous.
