HADDONFIELD, New Jersey (WPVI) — A former music teacher from South Jersey found her second calling as the person who stands between floral arrangements and the trash bin.
Leona Davis founded ‘Forget Me Knot Flowers’ with the help of her family and a team of volunteers. This year marks their 10th anniversary.
Through the company, people can donate their used flowers to be repurposed and donated to others in need of a pick-me-up.
For example, newlyweds Amanda and Lewis decided to donate their flowers to the Abramson Cancer Center, part of Penn Medicine.
The day after the wedding, Davis and her family picked up the flowers. Then, they invited volunteers to stylize them into small bouquets in vases.
These small bouquets were then donated to the Abramson Cancer Center and other institutions that Forget Me Knot frequents.
Parties who donate flowers pay a fee for the pick-up and following services.
