Camp Mystic is reeling after a heartbreaking tragedy.

The Texas summer camp confirmed the loss of 27 of its campers and counselors in the flash floods that hit the area on July 4.

“Camp Mystic is grieving the loss of 27 campers and counselors following the catastrophic flooding on the Guadalupe River,” the camp, which was hosting 750 campers at the time of the flood, wrote on its website July 7. “Our hearts are broken alongside our families that are enduring this unimaginable tragedy. We are praying for them constantly.”

The statement confirmed the camp’s ongoing communication with local and state level responders as they deploy “extensive resources” to search for the girls who remain missing.

“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from community, first responders, and officials at every level,” the statement concluded. “We ask for your continued prayers, respect and privacy for each of our families affected. May the Lord continue to wrap His presence around all of us.”
