As a Canadian, I’m very proud to have been born and raised here. We’ve always known how great Canada is, but it’s especially satisfying when the rest of the world finally catches on. And with everything chaotic happening right now, it’s honestly a nice little reminder that, yes, we do live in a really lovely country.
But honestly, lately we’ve been breaking news. For starters, Heated Rivalry? All ours! And it’s Canada-core at its finest. Crave — a Canadian streaming service — made the show. Jacob Tierney, a Canadian writer and director, created it. Rachel Reid, a Canadian author, wrote the book. And Hudson Williams — the star who plays Shane Hollander — is Canadian too. Oh, and it’s about hockey. So yeah, we gladly claim this cultural phenomenon. You’re welcome.
And then last night during the Bad Bunny concert (I mean, the Super Bowl), Bad Bunny gave Canada a shoutout during his halftime show. And I’m telling you, I’m pretty sure every Canadian (and their dog) collectively lost it when we heard our country’s name roll off Bad Bunny’s tongue. We’re truly honoured.
Add in our former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dating Katy Perry, Team Canada getting a standing ovation at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Heated Rivalry co-stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie holding the Olympic flame, celebrating the life of our beloved Catherine O’Hara, and Tate McRae sparking an online lovefest with the phrase “I’m Canada Down” — and yeah, it’s really no wonder the internet can’t stop talking about us.
This is what people are saying:
Tell me in the comments, what 2026 Canadian moment are you most proud of?
