COATESVILLE, Pa. (WPVI) — A woman says she had a disturbing encounter with the man accused of killing a CHOP nurse just days before the murder.

Tiara Shearer of Parkesburg said the incident occurred last Tuesday afternoon, four days before Jahn was arrested for allegedly murdering a woman in Tredyffrin Township.

“I think I got extremely lucky. It has completely torn me up since,” she said. “I feel absolutely horrible for that woman.”

Tiara said she was sitting inside her car at a shopping center in Caln Township when a silver pickup truck driven by 44-year-old Steve Jahn struck her mirror.

“He started getting really, really aggravated. He got out of the car already feeling amped up. He was clearly irritated with the whole situation. He was clearly erratic. He was pacing around,” she recalled.

Tiara said she took a photo of Jahn’s driver’s license after he insisted.

“He says, ‘You know, what I was trying to do this the nice way, but that’s it, that’s fine,'” she said.

Tiara said she called her husband because she was afraid. Her husband, Steven Shearer, said he confronted Jahn when he arrived.

“I said, ‘No, I’d like your insurance,’ and that’s when he had his whole spiel and drove off over the barriers. He even said for us to call the cops,” he said.

Before police arrived, Steven Shearer took a photo of the vehicle leaving, which reportedly matched officials’ description of Jahn’s truck. When police arrived, Tiara says she filed a report and expressed she would like to press charges. She says later on in the week, she heard from them again, saying they were looking for Jahn.

“The officer didn’t want to pursue charges, they didn’t think it was going to go anywhere, and they kind of dissuaded me,” Tiara said.

She said police contacted her again Saturday morning and shared his insurance information, telling her he had also been hostile with officers. Action News contacted Caln Township police about the investigation, but did not hear back.

“They wanted to let things lie, they said. So they’re the police, I agreed,” she added.

A few hours later, Jahn was accused of killing Megan Nieberle in Tredyffrin Township.

“It makes you nervous of what the county will actually do in situations like this when people like this can keep going on with seemingly no consequences until it is absolutely too much,” Tiara said.

The district attorney’s office says it cannot confirm specific details regarding the investigation, but says it is ongoing.

Meanwhile, Tiara said no officials have contacted her since Jahn’s arrest.
