PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia has been rolling out the red carpet for visitors and tourists who are coming to town to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.
But now, city leaders have a new feature just for residents.
Organizers are planning 250 city block parties, featuring special games and prizes to celebrate the semi-quincentennial.
It’s being called the “Block Party Bonanza,” a citywide and summer-long red, white, and blue bash.
The goal is to bring the patriotic festivities to all corners of the city, making sure every resident gets a chance to be involved.
Organizers will sponsor the block parties from May 23 through October 3.
They will even provide selected blocks with grocery gift cards, DJs, face painters, and games for children.
