It’s time to check your fridge.
Three types of cottage cheese sold under Walmart’s Great Value brand are being recalled because they may not have been pasteurized properly.
Containers of the Great Value Fat Free Small Curd Cottage Cheese, Lowfat Small Curd Cottage Cheese, and Small Curd Cottage Cheese were sold between February 17 and 20 with best by dates from April 1 to 3.
The Food and Drug Administration says the cheese’s manufacturer, Saputo Cheese USA, issued the voluntary recall after discovering a problem during what it called “pasteurizer troubleshooting exercises.”
The affected products were sold in 24 states, including Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
Customers who bought the affected products should return them to Walmart for a full refund.
According to the FDA, there are no reports of illness or hospitalization connected to the recall.
