DEPTFORD TWP., N.J. (WPVI) — Police in Deptford Township are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in the alleged assault of an NJ Transit bus driver.

The incident happened Feb. 21 around 6:45 p.m. at the Deptford Mall stop.

Video released by police on Monday shows a man punching the driver before getting off the bus.

Before the assault, you can hear the driver telling the man it was his last stop.

Police say the driver suffered minor injuries.

NJ Transit says these actions will not be tolerated.

“These actions will not be tolerated, and individuals who contemplate doing harm to our employees will be apprehended and aggressively prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” said the transportation system in a statement. “State Law explicitly protects train crew members and bus operators, and any assault upon them carries a prison term of up to 5 years and fines of up to $15,000.”
