PETALUMA, Calif. — It’s 3:30 am. The streets of Petaluma’s downtown are still and quiet.
But inside Della Fattoria’s bakery, mixers are turning and bakers are in constant motion crafting handmade, fresh baked pastries.
“Local. Organic. Handmade with love. We’re baking in here seven days a week,” co-owner Elisa Weber states. “We never cut corners. It’s all about real food, real butter, real cream.”
Della Fattoria has been making handmade breads and pastries for more the three decades.
“My mom was Kathleen Weber and she started the bakery in 1995. Italian style bread is what my mom started baking first. And then in 2004, we opened this cafe,” Weber explains.

The café serves classic dishes with some unique twists. Dishes like Huevos rancheros or Eggs Benedict are always available, but the pastries like the signature blueberry cloud sell out quickly.
“It’s definitely one thing that people will try to get here early for, to make sure that they don’t miss it,” Weber shares. “The concept is like a baked donut, right, so it’s not fried, but it has all the parts of the donut that you like: the puffiness, coated with sugar, and then blueberries inside.”
According to Weber, crafting such a delightful pastry is an involved three day process, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Weber works hard not only to make each item delicious but also make her cafe an unforgettable gathering place for the community.
“There are full grown adults that come in here with their families, and they were children when we opened. It’s about making this place feel very, very welcoming and happy and magical,” Weber says.
