NEW YORK — A member of the ABC and ESPN family received a special honor on Monday night.
ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith was honored with the first Broadcasters Foundation of America “Broadcast Personality of the Year Award.”
It was presented to him during a gala at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.
“For the purposes of the BFOA, and what its main agenda and the goal is, there are people that are in the financial and otherwise, and anything that we can do to contribute to giving a helping hand to them is something we should not hesitate to do,” Smith said.
The Broadcasters Foundation of America has been around for decades, and helps radio and television broadcast professionals facing a long recovery following medical treatments, accidents or natural disasters.
Disney is the parent company of ESPN and this station.
