For her inaugural walk down the Grammys carpet, “The Subway” singer was en pointe in a Edgar Degas-inspired, tulle-covered number from Jean Paul Gaultier’s spring 2003 couture collection. 

“For the red carpet, I knew from the outset that archival couture was essential,” Roan’s longtime stylist Genesis Webb told Vogue of the decision-making process. 

Because choosing a look for a carpet that’s played host to that Jennifer Lopez dress and Lady Gaga’s egg-hatching moment is no small feat. 

Of course, winning one of the treasured gramophones is fairly impressive as well. 

This year, Kendrick Lamar leads all nominees with nine nods off his sixth studio album GNX. Lady Gaga chimes in with another seven while Bad Bunny and Best New Artist hopeful Leon Thomas join Carpenter with six apiece.
