Police investigating after infant stabbed in Coatesville, Chester County

COATESVILLE, Pa. (WPVI) — A father has been taken into custody after allegedly stabbing his infant in Chester County.

Police were dispatched to an apartment in the 2000 block of Smithbridge Drive in Coatesville just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Upon arrival, police took the baby’s father, Michael Phillips, into custody.

According to police, Philips stabbed his three-month-old child in the abdomen, and then took the infant outside and threw him in the snow.

Police say the baby was in very serious condition, and was flown to CHOP where he is currently in surgery.
