NEW YORK (WABC) — She’s been a household name for Americans for more than 40 years, but Joan Lunden began her career in New York at Channel 7 Eyewitness News.

Now, she’s releasing her 11th book, “Joan: Life Beyond the Script,” which is her most personal to date.

In it, she turns the lens on herself, giving readers a look at her remarkable life; from breaking barriers for working moms while she was on air at “Good Morning America,” to her advocacy in our nation’s capitol for paid family leave, to her public battle against breast cancer.

She sat down with our own Bill Ritter, her longtime co-worker, to talk all about it, including her advice for young people starting their careers in the news business and taking a trip down memory lane.

Bill Ritter has the details on Joan Lunden’s latest book.

If you want to see Joan as she speaks about her life and her new book, she’s speaking at The Temple Emanu-el’s Streicker Cultural Center in New York City on March 10. Registration is free.

Disney is the parent company of this station.
