Motorcyclist dies after vehicle slides off tow truck flatbed, driver being sought

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Police are searching for a tow truck driver after a vehicle slid off a flatbed, and hit a motorcyclist in the city’s Frankford neighborhood.

Authorities say the tow truck driver then fled the scene.

Emergency crews responded to the area of Frankford and Torresdale avenues just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday, where they found the motorcyclist.

The rider was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officials say the tow truck has since been located, but the driver is still on the run.

Investigators are now looking for surveillance video related to the incident.
