PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a sedan at a high rate of speed in Philadelphia’s Frankford section.

It happened just before 4 p.m. on Monday on the Roosevelt Boulevard at Bridge Street.

Police say the 41-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling northbound in the inner lanes of the boulevard at a high rate of speed when he allegedly ran through a red light and collided with a silver Honda Accord that was crossing at the intersection.

The Honda, which police say had the green light, was being driven by a 49-year-old woman.

Medics rushed the motorcyclist to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he died a half hour later.

His identity has not yet been released.

The driver of the Honda remained on scene and is cooperating with officials.

No charges have been filed.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
