Multi-vehicle crash in Germantown leaves 2 dead, 3 injured

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Two people are dead and several others are injured after a multivehicle crash Monday night in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. on the 2000 block of West Godfrey Avenue.

According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, officers arrived to find three victims lying in the roadway. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and another died at a nearby hospital. A third victim — a 16-year-old — remains in critical condition.

Small said all three were inside a Nissan. Officers had to extricate a 20yearold man who was driving the vehicle; he is listed in critical condition.

Police say the Nissan was traveling west on Godfrey Avenue when it collided with a Honda driven by a 72-year-old woman. The Nissan then continued down the block and struck a parked box truck.

The 72-year-old Honda driver was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The identities of the two victims killed have not been released.

Small said it appears speed was a factor in the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215686TIPS.
