New owners aim to revitalize shuttered Springfield Hospital

SPRINGFIELD TWP., Pa. (WPVI) — Springfield Hospital is under new ownership, and its investors say they plan to bring the long-shuttered facility back to life.

KQT Aikens Partners closed on the property earlier this week for $1 million. The group also won the bid last September to purchase Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park.

The sale comes after Crozer Health’s parent company, Prospect Medical Holdings, filed for bankruptcy last year.

Owner Todd Strine told Action News he intends to restore health services soon.

“What I mean by that is we’re not talking about years – we’re talking about months,” Strine said. “My objective would be to have health care services going later this year at both of these facilities.”

Strine said he envisions Taylor Hospital operating with multiple tenants, while Springfield Hospital would be best suited for a specialty health center.
