The Philadelphia Fire Department graduates its newest EMTs

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia now has 30 new paramedics and EMTs to help protect and serve city residents.

The Philadelphia Fire Department hosted a graduation ceremony Monday night for its newest crop of Emergency Medical Services providers.

Mayor Cherelle Parker, Managing Director Adam Thiel, and Philadelphia Fire Department Commissioner Jeffrey Thompson were there to lend their support at Franklin Towne Charter School in Philadelphia’s Bridesburg neighborhood.

The new graduates have been at the Philadelphia Fire Academy for the past three months, learning the ropes of working in one of the busiest EMS systems in the country.

The Philadelphia Fire Department responds to an average of 1,000 incidents per day.
