PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Detectives in Philadelphia say a deadly shooting in the Frankford section of the city may have been a case of mistaken identity.

Four years later, investigators are still searching for answers.

29-year-old James Taylor was shot and killed along the 5400 block of Akron Street in Frankford on November 9th, 2022.

“Upon arrival they located an unresponsive male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” says Santo Montecalvo of the Citizens Crime Commission.

Taylor’s family says someone at work had called, asking him to fill a shift at the last minute.

He never made it to his job.

He stopped at a corner store on his way, and that’s when someone opened fire, hitting Taylor more than 20 times.

He died 15 minutes later at the hospital.

“There’s no description on the doers, they found a couple cartridges on scene,” says Montecalvo.

If you have any information that can help track down the person, or persons, responsible you’re urged to call the Citizens Crime Commission at 215-546-TIPS.

All calls remain anonymous.
