Search called off for suspect who fled into the Lehigh River in Northampton County

NORTHAMPTON, Pa. (WPVI) — Police have suspended the search for a man they say ran into the Lehigh River on Thursday afternoon.

Officials say the man had just been served an arrest warrant when he fled from law enforcement into the river in Northampton Borough in Northampton County.

Crews searched for about six hours before calling off the effort.

The search could resume if they get new information.

Authorities have not released the man’s identity.
