PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A suspect is in custody after allegedly shooting a gun at a TGI Friday’s after being kicked out of the restaurant.

The incident happened just before midnight Monday outside of the restaurant on City Avenue in the city’s Wynnefield Heights section.

Sources tell Action News it started after staff threw out an unruly customer. That man allegedly pulled out a gun and fired shots in the parking lot.

Lower Merion police say officers were nearby on City Avenue, conducting a traffic stop, when they heard the shots and responded. Philadelphia police responded as well.

“Over here at TGI Friday’s – I got some shell casings on the ground,” an officer can be heard saying on the scanner.

There were two casings on the ground and crime tape in front of the TGI To Go door.

Sources say the suspect took off with kids in the car, which was found shortly after in the city’s Wissahickon section near Ridge Ave and Osborn Street.

That’s where the suspect was arrested.

As customers continued to eat at and shop near the TGI Friday’s on Tuesday, some say they weren’t surprised to hear of the shooting.

“I’m concerned all the time,” George Shaw, from North Philadelphia, said of the violence. “It’s a sign of the times right now.”

“It’s painful. It’s painful to see the heartache and the heartbreak that’s happening to the people in our community, in our neighborhoods,” said Ronald Coleman from West Philadelphia.
