Swastika found in bathroom at Coast Guard Training Center Cape May

CAPE MAY, N.J. (WPVI) — The United States Coast Guard is investigating after a swastika was found at its training center in Cape May.

The swastika was discovered on Thursday in a bathroom on the base, officials said.

In response, Admiral Kevin Lunday, commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, flew from Washington to Cape May, where he spoke to about 900 recruits and staff members to address the incident on Saturday.

“Anyone who adheres to or advances hate or extremist ideology – get out,” Lunday said in a statement. “Leave. You don’t belong in the United States Coast Guard and we reject you.”

The drawing was since removed.
