UPPER MERION TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WPVI) — A teenager is dead and three others are injured after a police pursuit ended in a crash early Saturday in Upper Merion Township.
According to investigators, officers attempted to stop a Kia Soul on U.S. 422 eastbound near Lewis Rd in Limerick Township just after midnight.
The driver refused to pull over, prompting a pursuit.
The chase came to an end when the Kia struck a concrete barrier near U.S. 422 and State Route 202 in Upper Merion Township.
Police say the 18-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three passengers, ages 19 and 20, were taken to the hospital.
Their conditions have not yet been released.
Authorities say the Kia was reported stolen at 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
The investigation into the crash and the events leading up to it remains ongoing.
