Turnpike reopens after canopy collapses at Downingtown interchange

DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) — The Pennsylvania Turnpike at the Downingtown interchange is reopened after a canopy collapsed over the toll booths Wednesday afternoon.

It happened as crews were preparing the toll plaza for demolition.

No one was hurt.

The canopy and the toll booths have since been removed.

The work was being done as the Pennsylvania Turnpike switches to open road tolling, where drivers will no longer need to stop at toll booths.
